1952 Cadillac Series 75 -

52 Gallery One 52 Gallery Two 52 Gallery Three 52 Gallery Four 52 Off to Florida

SOLD - $14,500

This car debuted at the Kemah Boardwalk, Kemah, TX - Kemah's Custom Car Show June 24, 2006

Trophy Winner, TOP 20, Spectators People's Choice Award.

This is a truly awesome example of a very limited edition automobile. Cadillac built only 1400 of these and this 970th is one of very, very few left in existence. This car is remarkable, that it has been so well preserved over its life.

The exterior paint was only redone once about 30 years ago and is in very good shape. The car is originally from Indiana, and was rust proof, undercoated at birth. This undercoating has so effected the amount of original metal on this car. There are so very few rust through spots, on the drivers floor about 1" in diameter, a smaller spot on the passenger side, maybe 1/2" and in the trunk by the drivers side bumper mount maybe 1 -2 ". NO rusted fender skirts, quarters, fenders, door edges, wheel wells, NOTHING!!

All the original window molding is in place, with not rust anywhere around any window. The original wood trim in the back seat area is all there, and in very fine shape. All hydra-electric windows work very fine. This car came with factory installed power windows and front seat!

The engine compartment is almost spotless, to my knowledge the engine has never been torn down, but still runs like a Swiss watch, no smoke, no leaks, no lifter noise, NOTHING!

The transmission on this car is a FOUR speed automatic. It shifts fine and runs smoothly. I have ordered a rear seal, and hope to install that soon.

Please call 832-257-9028 with questions and make an appointment to see, and fall in love with this great car!

Vehicle Description from seller on eBay in July 2005

This car was originally owed by Lieutenant Colonel Michael C. Murphy who flew the first of 52 gliders into Normandy on D-Day, and later became a famous stunt pilot.  The title was transferred to my father in 1967, and then to me upon his death. This car has been in covered garages most of it's life, and is in very nice condition on the exterior.  In the early 1970's a new interior was installed, which was fitting for the times. We have not run the car in the last 6 years, but before that, it had a very strong engine, and lots of fun to drive.  Mileage shown is what is on the working odometer.  Obviously it has rotated over.

The following work has been done since purchase

  • 12V conversion: new generator, new voltage regulator, and new 12V battery installed
  • All ignition parts, except distributor (plugs, wires, points, condenser, cap, and rotor)
  • Engine cleaned and enamel painted POR-15 deep Cadillac blue
  • Valve covers, generator, fan, power steering pump, fuel pump, and radiator enameled "Gold" - 1952 was the golden anniversary of Cadillac
  • Water pump rebuilt
  • Carburetor rebuilt
  • Gas tank cleaned and sealed with POR-15
  • Brake cylinders and master cylinder all rebuilt, new shoes in rear.
  • Rewiring in front engine compartment (new 12V bulbs installed throughout)
  • Interior completely reupholstered to original color with suede microfibre
  • New carpet in passenger compartment and for trunk liner
  • New Coker 820x15 "Gangster" 4" white wall tires
  • Engine compartment repainted

Remaining work needs to be done for full preservation

  • Steering box leak fixed
  • Rear transmission seal replaced
  • Bumper parts re-chromed
  • New mufflers
  • Radio
  • Instrument panel Temp & Gas gauge convert to 12V
  • Interior wiring in back seat area
  • Heating system
