1962 Ford Thunderbird - $6000 - SOLD
"Parade Convertible"
116,000 miles located in Austin, TX

- This is the classic 1962 Bullet Bird that you've always wanted, it's now
a parade car 'convertible' and it's affordable! This once was a hard top
coupe and is now a beautiful converted "Parade Convertible"
- (which means that it does not have a top nor provision to attach
one). It is a classic Thunderbird, without a top, designed to satisfy
your desire for a convertible without having to pay convertible prices.
- The car is garage-kept for the past ten years and started every day and
driven on a regular basis.
- It starts up strong every time (struggling only if it's cold out or
hasn't been driven in a day or two), drives sweet, smooth and strong and
never smokes. Since I've owned it, I've driven it every day around town
and it has never stalled out on me or left me stranded.
- The transmission shifts smoothly but has trouble when trying to shift
gears while going up hills.
- If you ease back on the gas and keep it in the lower gear, it makes
it just fine. The transmission will need to be checked out and tuned up
to make it shift more smoothly.
- There is an oil leak, a minor coolant leak that only drips from time to
time and one of the belts squeaks when you first start to drive it but goes
away once the car warms up and has been driving for a few minutes.
- The belts should be replaced to remedy this. The hoses will need to
be replaced eventually, but are fine for right now.
- There is a new gas tank with an operational sender so you can tell how
long you've got until you need to fill up.
- There is an air conditioner in the car, but the belt is not hooked up,
so I don't know if it works, but the fan blows air from the vents.
- The power brakes are in great shape and stop the car each and every
time, even from a fast cruising speed.
- The tires are fairly new and in very good shape.
- The rear fender skirts are included but are not on the car because of
the current tires' size.
- The interior is in great shape with no tears or rips in the upholstery
or the carpeting.
- There are minor cracks in the door panels and scuff marks on the
rear side panels and other places in the interior, but nothing too
terrible. Just your average wear marks.
- The dash is cracked in a few places and should be replaced. A new carpet
dash cover is included with this auction to hide any cosmetic flaws. There
are seatbelts in the front and back seat.
- All the gauges work, all lights, brake lights, turn indicators, horn and
other electrical components work, even the cigar lighter. The clock and the
original AM radio do not work, but there is an after-market radio under the
driver's seat hooked up to the speaker and it picks up any and all stations
with no problem.
- The glass is all very good except for a 9 inch long crack on the
passenger side of the windshield and a rock chip on the far left side, to
the left of the driver. All windows are manual except for the driver's side
window which has been converted to a power window (for some strange reason)
and it does go up and down just fine.
- There are no dents or other body damage to any of the panels. The chrome
is in good shape all around and is complete.
- The car could use a new paint job, but the existing one is in decent
shape with only a few chips here and there on the doors. It's a real '20
footer.' From a few feet away it looks perfect and the minor body flaws
are only visible when you get up close.
- It was probably a Texas car all it's life and that explains why there is
so little rust on it.
- The only areas I was able to find were in the rear floor of the
trunk and around the chrome tail light bumper 'Q's' . There is no rust
on the side panels, deck lid, hood, etc.
- This "hard top"-to-convertible conversion was a quality job and the rear
section has been capped by a padded area of white vinyl to match the
interior. The area above the windshield has the same white vinyl.
